College Football players get serious gifts for playing in bowl games

They won't be getting a paycheck for playing in anything NCAA, but the "Swag" will be quite a treat for this years college football bowl bound teams.

The NCAA allows players to walk away with up to $500 worth of treats, and at least half of the 34 bowls are offering shopping sprees, gift suites or some kind of catalog pick-and-choose party.

Here's a sampling of what bowl players closest to home can look forward to:

For the Independence Bowl, played Dec. 28 in Shreveport, La., Texas A&M and UGA players will be allowed into a gift suite that includes Sony Blu Ray players, Bravia sound system equipment. They'll also receive watches, a hat and a souvenir football.

When Hokies and Vols players come to Atlanta on Dec. 31, for the Chick-fil-A Bowl, each player will get a $250 Best Buy gift card, Fossil watch, a Russell Athletic travel bag, a souvenir football and knit cap.

And, of course, each player gets a gift card to -- where else -- Chick-fil-A.

In Miami, Orange Bowl participants from Georgia Tech and the University of Iowa get access to gift suite offering iPods and iPod accessories, flat-screen TVs, home theater systems, mountain bikes and luggage.

And all of the players get a Tourneau watch, an OGIO backpack, and a game hat.

Not too shabby..

Now if the would just make more gifts available only if you win... Oh my this would change some things - especially in the lesser bowls.
